FedEx representatives say the delivery of the package containing six 30 caliber M1 rifles was an "honest mistake" and purely the result of an address typo, according to the outlet.
The staff did not inspect the box or even realize it had weapons until Monday, Aug. 22, when the delivery driver returned to the West 9th Street school after realizing it had been left at the wrong location, the outlet says.
The package, which was not addressed to the high school, was meant to be delivered to an auto repair shop in Chester Township to an avid gun collector.
